The child who was seriously injured in a shooting that took place near Maligakanda Magistrate's Court this afternoon has died while receiving treatment.
The police suspect that the shooting may have been aimed at the deceased child's father. The police say that he is a main suspect in a criminal incident in which a person was hacked to death in Kotahena area last year.
It is reported that his wife and child were traveling with him in the three-wheeler at the time of the shooting.
The shooter came on a motorcycle and ran away after firing at the people who were traveling in a three-wheeler.
