The Ministry of Cultural Affairs has initiated an investigation into the Facebook page run by Okapatana Vidyalaya, which has distorted and posted a New Year song. A song sung by Rohana Beddage, an authority on folk music, has been altered in this manner.
Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Somaratne Vidanapathirana, stated that a report has been requested from the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission regarding the individuals who distorted the song and released it on social media. Legal action will be taken against those responsible for distorting the song.
This investigation has been initiated on the instructions of the Minister of Cultural Affairs, Vidura Wickramanayake.
