The Public Health Inspectors Association has decided to intensify its trade union action from 8.00 am today (24).
The association says that it will resort to this trade union action against the transfer of Public Health Inspector B.H. Migasdeniya due to his opposition to the illegal activities taking place at the health office of the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake.
The association says that despite informing the authorities on several occasions regarding this issue, the Ministry of Health has not yet taken any steps to provide any solution.
Accordingly, as per the decision of the association’s working committee, it has been decided to completely suspend the provision of all types of data and reports to the administration by all Public Health Inspectors and Administrative Public Health Inspectors across the island with effect from today. In addition, the association has also decided to suspend all types of data systems updating.
Accordingly, the Public Health Inspectors Association strongly emphasizes that no data that is not received during this period will ever be updated in the data systems.
They also request the authorities to immediately cancel the arbitrary transfer of B.H. Migasdeniya and conduct a fair investigation into the matter.
In addition, the Association states that it strongly condemns the attempt to reduce the approved number of Public Health Inspectors at the Colombo Port Health Office and the Katunayake Airport Health Office.
However, the Association further states that it is ready to provide full support for a fair investigation into these matters and to discuss them at any time.
